A Statement of Personal Faith

I believe in, serve, worship and trust the Sovereign, Triune God who created all things seen and unseen out of nothing.

I believe that humanity was created in the image of God and made for relationship with God. I believe that we desecrated that image long ago and continue to scorn that relationship through corporate and individual disobedience. I believe that no design of my own making, nor any human design, will bring me favor in the eyes of God. Only through God’s divine initiative is the Creator able to redeem the Created.

God’s most loving and sacrificial initiative took place in the incarnation, death and resurrection of God’s only son, the Lord Jesus Christ, who being fully human and fully divine was able to completely and sufficiently atone for the sins of humanity through his sacrifice.

We are called back into a covenant community of grace with God and other believers once we respond in faith and confess Jesus as Lord and Savior. God gives us the Holy Spirit and the Holy Scriptures to instruct, guide and lead us in good stewardship on our Christian journey. We corporately worship in the church in appreciation and celebration of God’s grace in our lives. The sacraments of baptism (which in the covenant includes infant baptism) and the Lord’s Supper, both instituted by Christ, incorporate us into the faith family and remind us that somehow, mysteriously, we share in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus.

I am deeply grateful for God’s loving initiative and respond in faith by offering my life, in obedience, to Christian service. I live my life and use my God-given gifts in hopes that my example might be a reflection of God’s grace for others to see and faithfully respond to God’s love. I also believe that it is my Christian duty to participate in the mission of the church through evangelism, social justice, and witness to be a blessing to the church and world alike.

Together, with the family of faith, I welcome the day of Christ’s return.
